As I checked out the games on the critical response prompts, I realized that I was not interested in any of games. In order to enjoy any of the games, you have to have patience because the games were very boring at many times. The game that I played the most was Airport Security. At first I thought the Airport Security games was going to be fun, but in actuality the game was boring and very weird. While playing the game, I had to strip the passengers of their clothing, which made me question the purpose of the game because in real life, passengers do not get stripped down. Some parts of the game were frustrating because you could click on the correct item to remove from the bag, but the security points bar would still go down. I never beat the game because the game made me so frustrated that I quit. The items that you were asked to remove were simple things, such as candy and toys. The game makes fun of the harsh security system that airports use everyday that makes passengers frustrated.
As I searched through Tumblr for college sports and salaries, I realized that Tumblr is certainly an unreliable source. The posts that came up when I searched “college sports” were very random. The majority of the posts were pictures of many NCAA college football teams and the high-spirited student fan section. If I could use Tumblr as one of my sources for my research paper, the information would be untrustworthy because the posts that discussed the issue of college athletes being paid came from many fans of the NCAA. The fans believed that the athletes should be paid because the fans were the reason that the college sport business was worth billions of dollars. Tumblr does not examine the issue of education and college athletes, which is one of the topics in my paper. Tumblr is definitely a limited source because the majority of the posts are one sided. Since the site is unreliable and one sided, Tumblr would ultimately hurt my research paper, rather than help it.
When I searched through Wikipedia, I had to narrow my search down because “college athletes” was too vague. However, Wikipedia is definitely more helpful than Tumblr because there are many articles that discuss college scholarships and education. The articles on Wikipedia are organized better that the posts on Tumblr, which helps the reader flow through the article and understand the information. If Wikipedia was the one of the only sources I could use, I still could write a well-written paper, but the information might not be true because anyone can edit the information on the site. Tumblr and Wikipedia are both sites that do not represent my topic well because the post and articles on the sites are mainly one sided.
For my research project, I will be examining the pros and cons of paying college athletes. I will be discussing whether or not the amount of money the athletes are rewarded with scholarships compensates for the demanding practices, workouts, and games the athletes go through each and every day of the year. The challenging practices make the college athletes unable to apply for part-time jobs, which is often considered the reason for agents giving college athletes boosters. I will look to see if the free education the college athletes receive is enough.
The sources I intend on using for my research project will come from many online articles about college athletes and their athletic scholarships to examine the pros and cons of paying the college athletes. I will also look through the online articles to see how the revenue that the college sports bring in differs. Magazine articles that discuss college athletes and the free education they receive can also be useful sources. One of my sources will be the PBS Frontline video report, “Money and March Madness,” that discusses the reasons why athletes should profit from the multibillion-dollar college sports business.
The most difficult part of this assignment will be keeping my paper focused. I will need to find reliable and beneficial in order to have a well-written paper. Another obstacle that I will have to overcome is the length of the paper because I sometimes struggle with length of research projects.
After watching the Tom Brady UGG’s commercial, I asked myself one question—really? Many Americans already believe that Tom Brady has lost his “man-card”, so I am certain that running around in fluffy boots will not help Brady’s case. In the NFL, Tom Brady has several fans. He obtained his fans by playing the game of football. The majority of Tom Brady’s fans would not approve of his UGG’s commercial because they would rather see Brady in a commercial where he is throwing a football. The Tom Brady commercial is targeted towards the fans that only know Tom Brady’s face and the credibility of UGG boots. Because of commercials and advertisements like this one, Tom Brady has gained several haters because of unmanly characteristics during NFL games. NFL fans believe that Tom Brady is afraid of getting tackled by the aggressive defensive players in the league. Tom Brady has been called out by the Baltimore Ravens on many occasions for being “too soft” on the football field. Clearly, Tom Brady is not the best candidate to use for the UGG’s commercial because men in America do not want to buy fluffy boots that Tom Brady, a NFL MVP, wears. After watching the Tom Brady UGG’s commercial, I believe that UGG’s will always viewed as an overpriced girls shoe.
At first glance, I notice the six looney tunes characters on the Space Jams movie advertisement. Then my eyes move toward the orange-red colored ring that the characters are holding onto for dear life. After I notice how the looney tunes are holding onto the ring, I observe the look on their eyes which shows fear. Then my attention goes toward Michael Jordan pulling the ring to “safety.” Next, I notice the dark green hand has orange spots on it which makes it clear that the creature is not human. While Michael Jordan pulls the orange-red ring, the hand pulls the ring in the opposite direction. The background of the image is outer space. There isn’t much text on the image. The “J” in Space Jam is larger than the other letters. The two important actors are Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan.
